APEGS Engineer-in-Training-International Graduate Category

If you have to apply under the APEGS Engineering-in-Training-International Graduate category in the below-given two conditions:

If you have a bachelor’s degree that you earned from outside of Canada, or

You have a Canadian degree without accreditation from the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).

Steps for an international graduate when applying as an engineer-in-training:

Start by reviewing the application process on the official website.

After that, create a user account with APEGS (If you already have an account, simply click login).

Check your mail for an ‘APEGS sign-up verification’ from apegs@apegs.ca. This link in this email will take you to the APEGS Central homepage.

Afterwards, go to the ‘Applications’ quick link on the left side of the page. Having done that, choose ‘Apply now’ and choose the Engineer-in-Training International Graduate application type.

Next, you need to complete the information in the ‘Apply Now’ section.

Afterwards, you will be prompted to pay the application fees. For your online application submission, pay the application fee by credit card.

Apply to World Educational Services (WES) (for international education only)

A WES ICAP credential evaluation is necessary. (Review WES details to know which type of evaluation is necessary).

If you can’t obtain a WES assessment, contact APEGS for more information.

Finally, send the following necessary documents to APEGS:

Identification proof (fillable PDF with instructions)

Your CV

Official Canadian transcripts (if having relevant, Canadian, post-secondary education)

The institution must issue them directly to APEGS. This may be in the form of an electronic delivery to documents-academicreview@apegs.ca. It may be by means of an electronic delivery system with support from an institution like MyCreds.

Note: Transcripts need to include the degree awarded and the date conferred. If the conferred date is not the transcript, ask the institution to offer a letter directly to APEGS. This letter must indicate that the requirements have been fulfilled for conferral. The letter must include your name, the awarded degree (including discipline) and the date of conferral.
The institution can directly mail it to APEGS adhering to the email address documents-academicreview@apegs.ca.

Good character requirement:

In the application process, If APEGS finds that you have not fulfilled the Good Character guidelines, it will take action.

 What is good character?

Good character means moral and ethical strength. This strength must be distinguishable as a mixture of virtuous or socially acceptable attributes or traits. These attributes and traits include, among others, candour, integrity and honesty.
APEGS will examine an applicant’s character to determine if they can fulfill the good character requirement in any circumstances. These circumstances provide reasonable grounds to believe that the applicant will not work if:
  1. Having a record of professional misconduct, professional incompetence, or contravention of a professional statute record with a professional regulatory organization.
  2. Committed a crime for which a pardon has not been granted pursuant to the Criminal Records Act.
  3. Being at fault in a civil action related to negligence in their professional practice.
  4. Willfully obtaining or attempting to obtain registration or renewal of registration by cheating on an examination.
  5. Providing a false statement on their application, or committing any other impropriety in the application process.
