To become a professional engineer in Ontario, you must first obtain an engineering license from the Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng) (PEO). An engineer cannot be referred to as a professional engineer in any Canadian province or territory until they hold an engineering license issued by the government of the province or territory where they reside in Canada, at which point. In this section, we will present you with a high-level overview of the prerequisites to becoming a licensed engineer. In any case, we will provide you with all of the necessary information concerning the NPPE (National Professional Practice Exam). It is one of the prerequisites to becoming a licensed engineer in the province of Ontario.
Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) Licensing Requirements:
The NPPE, or National Professional Practice Examination, is an online exam that covers ethics, professional practice, engineering law, and professional accountability. It is three hours long exam.
An eligible candidate may write the NPPE at any time (within the time period specified by PEO), provided they have the required 48 months of engineering work experience. To minimize licensure time, the candidate is encouraged to write the NPPE as soon as possible within the time limit specified by Professional Engineers Ontario.

PEO's Exam Center will send the candidates a registration notice once they have been determined to be eligible to write the exam.
The National Professional Practice Exam (NPPE) certifies knowledge of professionalism, ethics, and the law. The NPPE is used by 12 self-regulatory organizations in the fields of engineering and geoscience in Canada. The NPPE rigorously conforms to all related requirements outlined in the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing to ensure that the exam program is reliable, valid, and fair (psychometrically defensible).
There are 120 multiple-choice questions on the NPPE, which are divided into six subject areas. Of these, ten are particular to PEO and are linked to the Professional Engineers Act, Regulations 941 and 260/08, and practice issues that are specific to Ontario.
The remainder of the paper is based on information from textbooks and other secondary sources. Three hours are allotted for you to finish the exam. Despite the fact that the NPPE contains specialist vocabulary and phrases, the exam cannot be used to assess a candidate's English language skills. Furthermore, it is regularly checked (using conventional readability metrics) to work at a readability level that is close to grade 10.
The NPPE is broken down into three steps:
